Building America’s Energy Future with Nuclear Power

As electricity demand accelerates across the United States, one question is becoming impossible to ignore:

How do we power the future with energy that is reliable, secure, and always available?

That challenge was front and center during U.S. Senator Dave McCormick’s recent visit to Vistra’s Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant as part of a broader tour of major energy infrastructure sites across Western Pennsylvania.

The visit highlighted something the energy industry already understands:

Reliable, around-the-clock power is no longer optional.

It is foundational to economic growth, grid stability, and America’s long-term competitiveness.

During the visit, Senator McCormick and Beaver Valley leadership discussed the growing role nuclear energy can play in meeting rising electricity demand, alongside recently introduced permitting reform legislation designed to help streamline investment in critical energy infrastructure.

“Pennsylvania is the second-largest energy producer in America, in part because of nuclear power,” Senator McCormick said during the visit. “We’re hoping we can become an even bigger nuclear power player in the years ahead.”

During the tour, Senator McCormick visited the Unit 1 Turbine Building and Beaver Valley’s Control Room, where team members shared firsthand insight into the operational excellence, precision, and professionalism required to safely operate one of Pennsylvania’s critical energy facilities.

But beyond the technology, the visit underscored something equally important:

America’s energy future will depend on strong collaboration among policymakers, industry leaders, and the skilled workforce that operates these facilities every day.

Thank you to the Beaver Valley team members who shared their time, expertise, and pride throughout the visit and helped showcase the people behind one of Pennsylvania’s most important sources of reliable energy.
