As temperatures climbed in Lubbock, TXU Energy teamed up with Lubbock Meals on Wheels to deliver immediate relief to residents facing extreme heat.
Through TXU Energy’s Beat the Heat program, 555 box fans were distributed alongside daily meal deliveries, helping homebound neighbors stay safer and more comfortable during triple-digit temperatures.
“We know how dangerous extreme heat can be, especially for those who are older, homebound, or without air conditioning,” said Kim Campbell. “That’s why this effort means so much to us.”
For more than 25 years, Beat the Heat has supported communities across Texas by providing fans and air conditioners to those who need them most. What began as a single outreach effort has grown into a statewide initiative, built on strong partnerships with local organizations and focused on helping Texans stay safe during the hottest months of the year.
The impact is immediate and personal.
“One of our Lubbock volunteers told me that six of the eight people she delivered fans to didn’t have any air conditioning,” said Lisa Gilliland. “They were absolutely thrilled. These donations are more than appreciated. They’re needed.”
In 2025 alone, Beat the Heat supported more than two dozen social service organizations across Texas, helping more than 6,000 families.
Because when temperatures rise, TXU Energy shows up for Texas.
