After the Storms: $25,000 Donation Helps Restock Food Pantries

Late spring storms hit North and East Texas hard, leaving thousands without power. For some nonprofit agencies, the outages proved especially costly, forcing them to dispose of food when clients needed it most.

Vistra’s flagship retail brand, TXU Energy, stepped in to help with a $25,000 donation. Funds were distributed across five nonprofit organizations, including:

  • Metrocrest Services (Carrollton, TX)
  • Network of Community Ministries (Richardson, TX)
  • North Dallas Shared Ministries
  • PATH (Tyler, TX)
  • Sharing Life (Mesquite, TX)

Each nonprofit agency is also a TXU Energy Aid partner. TXU Energy Aid uses donations from customers, employees, and other Texans to help 20,000 families with bill-payment assistance each year. These nonprofit partners administer TXU Energy Aid funds to clients in crisis.

“For Vistra, doing business the right way means investing in the communities where our employees and customers live and work – and at times, that means stepping up to meet critical needs,” said Brad Watson, director of community affairs. “We are proud to support these agencies, ensuring they can continue the essential work of feeding Texas families.”
